I was commissioned to produce a set of high speed tennis action portraits of the tennis pro’s at Cambridge David Lloyd tennis center. The tennis club has a profile board displaying each coaches qualifications along with testimonials and private tuition information, I was to provide head-shots and action portraits of each of the tennis coaches for their profiles.
I like to call this type of photography an ‘action portrait’, my intention is to capture a good likeness of the athlete, in this case tennis coaches, in a sharp, motion stopping and blur free image.
It’s a revealing process and many shots reveal unseen detail as well as the athleticism involved. It’s amazing to actually see, frozen, the fine ‘fuzz’ that comes off the tennis ball as it’s struck and some of the ‘balletic’ poses – very graceful. I didn’t want any posed shots but wanted to capture them in full-flow, it took plenty of shots but I hope you agree it produced some really interesting images.
Many thanks to all involved, we had some fun and caught some great shots.
Please contact me if you are interested in commissioning my action portraiture.
