Creating good quality stained glass photography requires some thought as to how we view and admire it. For this project I photographed several stained glass panels in various stages of restoration and condition, the final images were used in the companies website that I also created.

The challenge with these particular panels is they are to be viewed fairly close-up. If these were just back lit then the detail in the lead work would not have been visible, so by combining back lighting and careful control of the light on the front of the panel I kept the realistic look of the glass whilst preserving the feel and warmth these stained glass panels have.

There is something remarkable about stained glass, for me it’s the combination of artist and craftmanship that gives them their wonderful aura.
